so i tried the octane 3 web demo, WOW, very cool volumes!
gota ask, any idea when this is coming to lightwave?, and can you reveal at all how volumes will be handled in lightwave?

I am going to work in the 3.0 plugin to have it ready as soon as possible
... It is a bit early to know how volumetrics are going to work in LightWave. Of course the plugin is going to be able to load and handle OpenVDB files, but I want to add also some kind of support for volumetric rendering from LW meshes, LW particle systems and so on.

sounds good!!
yeah would be definitely very useful to be able to use LW particles, any idea if turbulence fd would be compatible somehow?

As it happens we've been in communication with TFD developers, and they are able to export to OpenVDB, which Octane is able to import. The OpenVDB SDK is capable of doing some really awesome things with volume datasets including procedural fracturing, and indeed mesh->volume conversions.
Yes! OpenVDB! Hypervoxels! Hooray!
Vote for Juanjo!

If Octane 3 could eventually work with TFD, that would be killer! My two favorite LW plugins, together at last
I've been too busy with compositing work lately to do much with Octane, but this is getting me excited to jump back in! Also, just wanted to say Thanks Juanjo for doing a great job for the LW community. Your hard work on the plugin is much appreciated!
