I saved a hair setup for a DAZ hair as an orbx file.
Now that I import it the textures are gone.
I thought it collected any used images but considering what hapend I'm quite sure that it does not.
The size of the orbx files should have made me realise that.

How do I, if possible setup and save an orbx so that i dont lose images that belongs to the materials inside?

hi,
weird, in general, the plugin exports in orbex what is currently loaded in the Live View
Have you verified that everything was in place in the Live View before exporting?

Note that I'm not using the DAZ plugin.
I prefere to export to file from DAZ and open in standalone.

Exported a hair XXX from DAZ.
Opened in Octane standalone as a new Goeometry/Mesh.
Copied out the materials from the mesh into the scene and connected to the mesh again.
Selected the materials and did a group on them.
Opened the group and selected the materials and copied out the color textures from the material nodes to texture nodes.
Then I added a correction node.
Then I connected the texture node to the correction node and the correction node to the material.
Now i can change the color of the hair with the Hue control in the correction node.

I now want to save this Graph Node for hair XXX so whenever I use a hair XXX model again I just import the Node and connects it to the hair mesh.

Right clicked the Node Graph and did save as an orbx file.

I have imported it succesfully several times since then.
But today, the material had no images.

That and the small filesize made me think that maybe the textures are not included into the orbx file.
Maybe there is only a reference to the texture and that I have moved it since then.
If so, is there anyway to do this so that the images are included in the orbx.

Arghhhhhh now I lost another one...

I checked the image path in one of my imported orbx material setups.
It referenced an image as pathToOrbx.orbx::texturename
Nice, it seems at it saves the image in the orbx after all.

Then I made some small changes, as an example i had to texture nodes with same image so i deleted one of them and linked the remaining to both materials instead.
Then I saved the Node Graph back to the orbx file to store the changes.

Now when I import that node back again, images are gone.
It was a complex setup with lots of textures so it totally sucks.

Is it supposed to work this way.
How do I make changes to an orbx and saves them back again without losing all the images?

Hi,
have you try to save the materials in the LocalDB instead of saving them as orbx?
In this way you have several advantages, you can create the thumbnail during saving, you can organize the materials in categories and if you overwrite the material, Octane asks what to do. You can specify a specific location for the LocalDB in the preferences and the textures should always be embedded.
