I'm looking for a multi GPU setup (8X 980ti's in total) - is it possible to host them externally?
Would love to get some information about the subject.

hi there =) think You can find tons of solution, from cheap & dirty to rather expensive & offering less of bottle necks =)

A. pair of Amfeltec GPU clusters- if You choose this route get 8x non reference cooler equiped (windforce, strix, etc) cards - less noise, better cooling more speed.
B. better, but more costly option having better uplink speeds: Netstor Turbobox - 3cards in motherboard & 4more in this box, or two exxpanders for 8 cards.
C. something like magma expansion boxes: 16slot option - ain't going to be cheap =)

D,E,F, G..

X. well, You can get propper motherboard that has 7X PCIe slots & use 7x overclocked, watercooled cards with full loop - & thus giving You more with less (expect 1000+ in OctaneBench with 7 cards) . This solution will cost less, operates at lower temperatures & be much more quiet (but it's not for everyOne =)

drop a line if You need more info =)

Thank you for the lovely feedback.
Gpu clusters seems like a nice quick solution, def. not for me though. Very hard to carry around as a system. Netstor turbobox is also nice - but I don't think I'll be able to find it over my current location (Turkey).

I was wondering if it's possible to re-use computer cases that I already have with some type of expander that will be placed instead of a motherboard?
