even though I started fiddling with Octane waaay back in the beta days I never really had the hardware/time to play with it properly....needless to say I'm loving it now since I bought a licence about a month ago (still a lot to learn though!).
This is my first proper image I've done with Octane and I just love how lovely the lighting solution is. Looking forward to start slowly implementing it into my workflow and ditch that trusty old boring V-ray eventually:-)

Cheers vudumotion, I'm still working a bit on it to add that extra details that are kind of lacking still (not that happy with the appearance of ceiling lights for example and some parts of the floor are a bit fuzzy) and trying to optimize things. Also still doing lots of testing as I'm fairly new to Octane. But other than that the very natural looking quality of the lighting solution in Octane really offsets all of the other negative things for me (such as constantly wrestling with fireflies and noise).
This render took about 8 hours at full HD with hotpixel removal still set at 1 and is straight out of the frame buffer, so, being realistic and acknowledging it is an unbiased renderer after all, I'm really happy with Octane's performance so far.

Ahaha no...I've been studying the manual furiously and then been doing tests...I'm glad you said that though, I wasn't entirely sure if that would be a lot or not:-)

Vudumotion I watched that video and realized I have done as much as I could with regard to render settings already.
I think the biggest issue I am having is the fact that the room is not just a room but part of a larger house with about 3, 4 more rooms which also have some furniture in + just by removing the multiscatter vegetation outside it cuts render time by quite a bit.
And then I remembered I read somewhere that Octane will render the solution for the entire scene regardless of what's visible - is that correct? If it is, I think this (and the fact that it's quite a demanding lighting situation) is what is keeping my render times fairly high for this partilcular image. I'm just so used to Vray that this had never occured to me really lol.
I'll be wiser the next time around and isolate individual shots to optimize render times.
