MAX EXPORT- OCTANE IMPORT PROBLEM

HI,
i'm testing Octane with big architectural project and i found this strange problem.

1) Same object at are separete in 2 different istance with different name, they are imported in Octene in 1 object.

to chek i tried to import scene from architerior (evermotion) that is realized without group or assemblie, and guess, Octane import 1 singolar obj and i can not map it.

so.

Sameone had the same problem?

2) how can I menage hte sub object material system of MAX in Octane ?

the only way is separate every object like 1 material 1 object

please help.

Hi there Alberto,
Most likely you are doing something wrong at export.
I use max and octane and everything works fine, the thing is at import (if everything has been done correctly you will see 1 node representing your whole mesh and on top of it several inverted triangles, each triangle is a texture, if you select the mesh node at the right side menu you'll see each and every texture node for your mesh and you can edit it there.
If you only see one triangle usually there is a problem, either with the mlt file or at export.

Can you tell us the exact version of max you're using so we can get you a screenshot of the correct export settings ?

So i'm using MAx 2011.

iMAde test now i openend old progect of 1 lamp and separate by using the editable object in 3 different object.

still i have 1 mesh with 1 texture now i chek if is problem of texture and not of geometry

maby is this.

ok, i just tried 1 second ago to chek the texture and put 3 different materials and nothing change still i have only 1 tringle in octane node.
???

what is this???

if someone explain to me how to update file on the forum i will update hte max original and obj esported .

HI Radiance,
i tried with this settings but same files works good and ather files not example ,

i tried with tree toke from archmodels and works good,
then i tried with one scene toke from archinterior with no group or assemblie and in octane i see only 1 materil for all the mesh.?

can you tell me why ?

and vary important the sub object material of max will be added in the future relase of octane ??

Hi,

I'm not a max user myself, i guess you need to get a bit comfortable with how the export works between max and octane with some simpler models.
you can't just start throwing huge archinterior scenes at it and expect them to come out perfect.

The export of materials is in 99% of the cases due to misconfiguration of the OBJ export options.

If you have specific questions, try to formulate them properly in one coherent mail, and we'll have one of our max users reply.
but we can't just reply to generic topics like this, there's too little information given, we don't know your software versions, setup, etc...
