Hey guys,
I know that there are simple ways to convert materials from standard c4d to octane, but I still wonder...

When I user the demo to evaluate wether octane is worth the bucks (it is!), I was pretty happy that it seamlessly rendered even standard cinema materials, which could come in handy on some older project files which need an upgrade. And since I'm having a job this week in the need of exactly such an update, I thought about using octane on it and havin far less rendertimes. But the result simplay has to be more or less exactly the same to fit to the rest, so a conversion to octane materials is impossible in this case.

Sadly after I bought the plugin combo today, those material formerly rendering in the demo are now showing in some sort of white clay mode. I checked the "c4d materials" box in the settings... what wrong here?

regards,
phil

Hi,
It couldn't guarantee to give exact results for some C4D materials. It can convert or use some of shader types. Because there is some fundamental conflicts which doesn't fit to Octane's concept. Even also some unsupported shader types. Anyway this on-the-fly convertion is worth for most simple setups. With 3.0 we will have more options on shader side and will give more flexibility.

That's nice to hear, still it wont answer why the simple materials I used ran smooth with the demo and render white with the full version. Any ideas what I could check to make them show up again?

There shouldn't be a different in between. If you post a scene we can see it. Btw, we don't need objects, etc... just you can post a scene with some materials.

It's getting even more odd... if i convert materials via the plugin, they show up black, whereas in the demo they converted correctly. But only in this certain case.

In a new scene everything works as it should... so its hard to reproduce. Sadly due to an NDA I cant provide my buggy scene. But Ill keep an eye on that and should it happen again or the NDA suspend, Ill come back again.
