This is starting to make me frustrated.
after the last three builds or so, i have noticed that octane plugin for maya no longer support version 2013. I still feel that maya 2015 is still immature to be considered an stable upgrade. however with the new version 2016 it seems like it´s getting better. although it still has some bugs.
But.
if i choose to upgrade to the latest maya build, i would need to upgrade all my other plugins as well. and that´s expensive. and most of them don´t even support maya 2016 yet. the worst part is that some of the bugs in octane render has already been fixed in the newer versions but as i said, i can´t upgrade unless i upgrade everything.
anyone else have the same issue ?
why no maya 2013 plugin ?

There are probably loads of people who have the same problem. But on the other hand It's not possible to keep supporting every legacy version of a software program. Most plugins will only work for a limited number of versions with free updates until the next major release. The latest 3 versions seems like a reasonable practice to me.

well, i can certainly understand that they can´t keep supporting earlier versions of maya. my only issue is that we were not notified in time. and that i have been asking about this for quite some time, without any explanation.
i have always had a principle that says, never to upgrade to the latest version of maya. usually because maya is filled with new bugs and is ( in my eyes) not stable enough to use.
also, the issue about plugin versions matching maya version. i have an number of convenient plugins that only work on Version 2013 to 2015 or only on 2013. this makes it quite inconvenient to shift from one version, to another. and not to mention the problem that you can´t work on a maya scene from an newer version of maya and then jump back to an earlier version of maya to add something.
but i´m glad someone like you were able to fill me in, regarding this issue.
thanks
