Actually, the scenes were slightly different, in that one texture map didn't make it into the Linux test. That would account for some difference, but I doubt it would account for that much.

I haven't had a chance since doing this last night, but since it's got people so excited I'll do a better test over the weekend and give you the results. Maybe it was a fluke, I dunno.

Okay everyone, we can all breathe more easily: apparently this was a fluke. I tried the same scene again and this time both Windows and Linux did about the same, with Windows now doing a full 12.xx per second, just like the Linux version.

So this seems to have been a momentary Windows problem. The exact same scene was rendering at about 7 s/s yesterday, and today's doing 12. Go figure. That's Windows for you. My mistake! I'm very sorry to have gotten everyone so excited, but this seems to have been a false positive.

can you explain us your setup?

windows cuda drivers, OS,
and the linu distro, and the versions of the drivers and cuda toolkit that you installed ?

12MS/s still sounds very high,is this with pathtracing or directlighting ?

12 was with Pathtracing. With directlighting it went up to 16-17.
I wish I could share the scene file but it contains an OBJ of a sculpted character that we're under NDA for. Lots of detail scultped in Zbrush, then kicked out with Decimation Master into a 900,000 poly model.

I'll get all the Linux specs for you soon. I'm running out the door right now though. Here's the Windows info copied from the Nvidia control panel. Nothing fancy really:
