I've used the XP Trail object to create splines (based on particles) to use as hair guides. Everything renders fine in the Live Viewer but when I try to render an animation in the Picture Viewer it all goes to hell. Octane isn't updating the objects properly it seems.

The render will begin on whatever frame was last in the Live Viewer, and re-render the same frame over and over until the animation begins (it should have just been rendering a blank screen at that time). When the animation begins proper, it seems to snap into place and go from there but it is strange and annoying.

Any ideas? The X-Particles are already cached so can I cache the hair somehow?

Are you using Octane Object tag on top of XP group?

I am not, actually I tried it on the Hair object but it didn't do anything. So do I actually have to assign the particles to a group? Or do I place the tag on the emitter, on the trail object.... so many options

The Object Tag fixed the live updating of the animation, but it still seems unable to comprehend when there is nothing on screen. It's rendering the previously rendered frame over and over instead of rendering nothing like it should

Dynamics can require caching if i understand your issue. If you can't solve anyway please post your scene to see what's the problem.

It's weird that problem disappeared when I limited the scene to just one emitter, maybe that was causing it. Now, however I have a completely different issue! When I render in the Live Viewer everything looks great, but when I output to Picture Viewer the color is completely different- white when it should be red :(

This is my first time rendering a scene with Octane so I just need to learn how to break everything first I guess, haha. Uploading scene, plz take a look, I appreciate it!

i'm not expert for XP but are you aware of that when you delete hair object, that's anyway producing a geometry. There is a double geometry problem. Also check the hair section in manual. I described the differences of LV and PV for hair rendering. You should rely to Picture Viewer for hair output.

I figured out why it was rendering white instead of red- in the Hair Render settings, I had to uncheck the "Spline" option in the Objects tab. For some reason that was giving me innaccurate results
