I'm working on a new tool in my Phantom Technology product line, another tool to aid the usage of Octane Render in practical situations.

It's called Phantom Photo Match, and it will allow you to load in a photo, set up 4 perspective lines in the photo, and then my algorithms will work out the camera position, target, up-vector and FOV for use in Octane Render.

I will sell it independently from Phantom Scatter, but it will be made available for Phantom Scatter users for FREE. :)

This sounds great.

Hi, this is a detail from a scene I'm working on. It was a good test for Phantom Scatter, every single element was individually sculpted and scattered through the ground, even the moss is made by individual tiny leaves.

I like the software so far, even though I only used area scatter and image-based scatter.

But there is one thing I don't really like: I want to be able to save my project file! There is only a save/load STATE but I want to save my current project, because at the moment I can't, and I have to re-enter all the parameters every time... :?
This is really annoying and counter productive. Why is that? Is it because I'm using the Demo version? Or am I missing something? :|

Wow, impressive! I'd like to have that high res (when it's done) so I can use that as the cover shot on the manual. (And to show off Phantom Scatter elsewhere :P)

The concept of Phantom Scatter is that it does not save your scatter objects locally, but globally. Then you have access to them cross-project. (As long as your keep consistent material names aka scatter surfaces).

If all is well, Phantom Scatter should save your scatter objects in C:\Phantom Scatter\library. If there are no files there, chances are you should run Phantom Scatter as Administrator, so it has reading/writing rights on your PC.

Ok but for example, in the above scene I have one ground plane and multiple scatter objects on it. For now I always reset the parameters because I want the new object to have different properties, but if I want to come back and edit, for example, the leaves, I can't. I have to re-do the scatter from scratch. Instead, if I had my leaves project file, I would just load that and all the parameters would be there.
Is a normal file system difficult to implement?

I'm not sure I get what exactly is the problem.

So you have your ground plane.

What you do is create a bunch of scatter objects. For example:

- ground_moss
- ground_leaves
- ground_shrub
- ground_grass

These 4 scatter objects are then individually enabled to be placed on your ground plane. Then you can edit either of them and re-export.

Hi Guus,
I'm having a problem with Phantom Scatter, as you can see from the screenshot below, I'm trying to distribute the leaves over a big area, but I get this weird patched distribution. The missing leaves are actually below the surface. :?
In the tool it looks correct.
I've attached the file, so you can take a look.
