Those pepermills are very glossy, maybe more blurred reflections or less specular ?

Nice one James,

You may try to remove fireflies, just make a search with hotpixel 1.3 over google, you'll find a nice plugin for PS. There are also standalone tools. This will dramatically increase the quality ;)

Yup, Much better.

I modelled the pepper mills after some highly shiny varnished ones I happen to have, I did consider turning down the specularity though..

Rendered with a different HDRI map and slightly different materials, also in this render the marble surface is more visibly marble.
