Hello,

I'm just discovering Octane. I've downloaded the Demo version to see if it works and it does on simple projects. Although I'm getting a yellowish watermarked image.
I admit I haven't yet searched around how to use Octane because I'm rendering non-stop since a couple of days and haven't had the time. But I've had this problem :
It seems that when I try to send my model, a building and some landscape (there is a texture with displacement, grass and HQ plants), that it's too heavy and I never get to see it in the render window.
I'm working on Cinema4D by the way and have installed the plugin.
I'm really new to the CG world and my computer isn't a beast, so I was wondering if you could tell me what the Octane plugin needs to run properly (in terms of hardware)?
I've tried the online test on the home page (the one with the planes). Works just fine!
Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

I would have really loved to try it now, to see if it speeds my test renders.

Any thoughts?

We have triangles count limit. About 20m triangles max. It will be removed on 3.0 most likely. But atm, you should be away to hit this limit. You can use lower subdivisions, lower polygon counts and render instances as much as possible. So first check your polygon counts from viewport or Live Viewer. If you can't see an rendered image on Live Viewer, reason may be exceeding the this limits or out of memory in GPU VRAM.

Additionally, Slowest part of plugin is sending and compilating the geometry. It can be much slower than a cpu renderer due differences of GPU rendering.

We have some advanced methods to avoid resending the geometry. Plugin provides some mechanism to check objects and detect whenever we need a resend or not. So mostly first send of a scene can take some long time and later will not resend and will work very quickly. Of course you should learn to use this.

Last please watch these tutorials.

Thank you, that was exactly the answer I was looking for!
I guess i'll have to wait for 3.0 when it comes to models like this. Hopefully by then I'll have a better GPU aswell.
I think it's a triangles count problem indeed. When I send my model it starts loading and gets stuck.
I'll check my polygon count and see what I can do for now.

Oh and thanks for the tutorials, I'll definitely have a look at those.
Cheers!
