Is there a way to create fur using the NGE?

Here is my 5 min test with LAMH :
- take genesis
- open LAMH, create some guide hair, style it a bit
- export fibermesh (120000) (--> about 850MB geometry on OcDs status)
- back to DAZ --> OcDs and material glossy specular with two colors
- open viewport and wait (long, very long : 2min at least building geometries (i7 3930K at 4GHz)) (DL default)

--> not bad

I own both Garibalid and LAMH . Unfortunately, when you're getting 850 meg + for hair. You're okay for static hair. ( The qualities of fibre within Garibalid and LAMH) . Don't equal Zbrush quality
give both these programs like a said three years and you might have the tools to do hair properly.

It's way too much effort Garibalid and LAMH , what I can achieve in hair farm & Ornatrix in less time (my hair files are about 15 meg to 30 meg.
Incidentally, all the hair you can see in my photographs will be on sale very shortly, if you're interesting in having some
real-life hair in your renders completely optimised with sss and works 100% in octane

But overall, use what you think is best for your own projects. ( But if you doing, animation, restyling you need to keep the object size, low)
If you doing any kind of animation project, restyling (you absolutely need a third party program )

If anyone's curious, Optitex has dynamic hair. It sucks... It just drapes straight down, but it is a simple style.

Any OBJ hair style can be made animatable once attached as a prop. This hair piece was designed on Genesis then morphed to Citizen X's head;

You can add dynamic morphs afterward. Oh and that hair was like 20MB.

I'm really hoping for a way to get a costume fur look.

I just have no idea how to go about it.

lol there like maybe 300 hairs on that head , no wonder it can be animated. (An average need something like 30,000 to look natural to look realistic)
the more hairs equals the bigger in size of the object

This is dynamic hair and it was done in Ornatrix , is basically more or less the industry standard . If you working on games or even movies
some guessing you're not very familiar with it as I've had absolutely no issues with it.

As for your beaver fur LAMH will do that ,
the werewolf animation I've done here with static hair
I've recently done it with dynamic not had time to render it
I need to put more realism into moving fingernails eyebrows and blinks for the werewolf
when it moves There are a few bugs with the animation on the camera and actual figure but not bad
over all

Dude... 20k hairs on that head. They are actual human thickness, and sparse as needed for the hair.

I generally found with Garibaldi that I needed 100K to 200k hairs for it to be passable. Unfortunately, my styling skills are not.

LAMH is having a temper tantrum with me at this time, but I'll see what it can do.

Personally, I don't think it's your styling skills as I've had issues with it. I don't like the tools. (They're extremely not user-friendly my views anyway)
failing that, you Z brush least you have a good set of tools. There

I don't think either program has been updated in over a year. AM is more likely to port LAMH to Poser, which they have been talking about for years...I haven't seen any word that updates were coming. But I could be wrong.

yep very little in way of hair updates from them

So this is why I started out. Making my own skin shaders. (And hair shaders)

Incidentally these hair shaders and skin shaders are now been used on a small
animation film. (Not sure if I can put the details of it here I've signed a non-disclosure will have to check)

If allowed to mention the company and what the film is?
