Hi,
I've recently setup a Slave pc with 9 x GPU's on the one machine. I was wondering if it were possible to have a second slave with a similar setup but on the same network?
Is the 12 GPU limit per licence or per network?
Thanks

It's per network which is a shame.

Seriously 12GPU limit is on network. I think i should have studied before buying Hope otoy remove limitation in v3 .. Or hope other GPU render will be available for C4D.. like redshift3D.
Otoy need to fix license / Limitation on customers .. Otherwise you will lose customers and customers will have bad feel about you which will hurt you in long term ... as soon as other GPU rendering solutions will be available.

The limitation is currently 12 GPUs being used at the same time for rendering the same image. That count includes local and remote GPUs. If you have multiple masters, each master can use up to 12 GPUs.
-> It's not per network, but per master.

Marcus, but if there are 2 workstations, each with 10 gpus, then the network rendering will allow to use 12 gpus only (10 from the master, 2 from the slave), right?abstrax wrote:The limitation is currently 12 GPUs being used at the same time for rendering the same image. as I understant You can have two masters =) as You have two rigs..though in this case it's probably better to use two systems separatelly without any network rendering =D

I get your point, Tom. But with 50 gpus in an office (there are some guys on this forum with such hardware) you are left with a fraction of potential rendering power...

..for Guys that have 50+ GPUs or like 20+ workstations on their office there are solutions like Deadline, GPUbox artists (technically unsuported because of EULA, not so widelly talked about, but..), etc.. once You get into spending tons of money for equipping Your studio with latest gear, You'll find a way to leverage all that with as little downtime as possible..
as for 12GPU limmit ..I see where from OTOY came with that..on one side..it's not so nice..on the other hand it's their choise. & it's reasonable one, considering the fact they keep licences priced pretty low (I still think we might see different type of licenses in the future anyway)..
Guess a lot of things are in progress still as it takes time to develop sustainable bussiness model that would move forward growing. We migh see a lot of questionable moves from OTOY, but I believe company has the reasoning..
Migh be an intesresting topic for upcoming Podcast - maybe I'll manage to talk devs having a chat on that one day..

I would understand it would be normal to limit each license for a maximum GPU number.
But when we have 4 licenses but still cannot use all of our 16 GPUs in a single render, 4 for each machine, each machine with a license, there is no logic explanation for the limitation.
