Hey,
I was wondering if the Octane render would be free for students later(?) because I just found out that the free versions are only the previous versions of Maya and that I would have to buy the plugin to obtain a Maya 2016 version.
Thanks,
Will Octance Render for Maya 2016 be free?
We recommend that students looking for newer releases beyond the demo/edu versions take a look at OctaneVR. It has parity with the latest commercial Octane release, and is also supported by a number of plug-ins, including those we have EDU versions of currently. It is free through the summer, and we may keep it (or some version of it) free beyond that point once we have fully evaluated whether this is feasible.

Just out of interest can the demo versions be used to export/package to standalone (to then be loaded into the free OctaneVR)???
Once in standalone the camera setting(resolution) could be upped and the watermark no longer rendered?

EDU versions don't have ORBX export. You can bring whatever work you'd like and use OVR for newer features while it remains free.prehabitat wrote:Just out of interest can the demo versions be used to export/package to standalone (to then be loaded into the free OctaneVR)???

So will the (student version) plugin work with Maya 2016?
