Yeah, he's pretty ugly (as a model..no offence to you of coure! :) )

Otherwise great job. Can I ask how you did the outside "curtains" (can't come up with better term...lack of vocabulary...)

hahaahhaha, yeap it/me is pretty ugly I have to agree with both of you (and with my girlfriend too) but I've had no time to improve it (excuses, excuses) and I like having people in my shots to give human reference and didn't want to photoshop it or use anything but my own models. Besides I don't have time for the next 2 weeks, so I'm afraid that even thou I know it/me should be either improved or removed will have to wait till after the competition, when I might have time to improve the ugly dude and some things that still bother me, besides when 2.3 is out I want to try to do a night scene in it. The main goal was to have fun and I knew that my job would get in the way I just coudn't anticipate I would have such a load this month, but that's a good thing too, and I have to say that it's been great to show the whole process and have such great feedback and advice, I think I've learn a lot, so again thank you, and of course good luck in the competion, cause I know there is going to be (already are) really great quality entry and this community will grow as they see what Octane can offer even at this early stage.
Cheers

Sam75 has asked me how I did the grass, I used fry renders grass texture from their free repository (Andrian point it in one of his posts), and used a scatter of a plane with the textured mapped over the "grass" area.
In 3d max, make the plane, check the pivot point to make sure it's placed correctly, then create a scatter (in creation tab, compound object and scatter with the plane selected ) using the plane on a surface, I use area dispersion, then add as many instances as needed to fill the area, add a scale and rotation transform, and then you have to choose the camera so the "trick" is not shown .

you mean the ivy? here, I used this really cool free soft http://graphics.uni-konstanz.de/~luft/ivy_generator/ importing the parts of my model in obj that I wanted ivy to grow in, and playing around with it, you can see grow ivy in your model in real time, lots of fun, If I could somehow combine the ivygenerator with octane and have real time growth and render at the same time I wouldn't see the light of day for weeks! also check the texture pack, with that you can even add translucent leaves in octane, and make the greatest ever ivy.

no I already have ivy generator installed, I am talking about your trees

I tried to import some evermotion trees in octane but they have way too many polies so now I am looking for some good looking low poly trees collections

I haven't used any trees in this particular scene, I haven't tried evermotions, they are quite heavy it seems, I've used a few freebies but finally I got onyx broadleafs, which is the one I use most, but again, this is only for few trees, at least till we get instances, meanwhile I make really low poly trees with planes spawing (scatered and hand moved) as whole branches and leaves with alpha maps and 3 faced extruded splines as basic tree structure. They are a pain to tweak, but in those periods of inactivity (not much) I try to add stuff to my own repository. ;) Andrian also mentioned a commercial brand in one of his last renders, and they look good, but I haven't had the time to check them out.
