Hi all,
I am use to work with dual monitors setup. And i׳m thinking about purchasing one of those superwide monitor (something like the LG 34UM95 superwide)
I׳m a 3D / Motion artist, working mostly with C4D, After Effects, zbrush, etc....
Any of you working with a superwide monitor? if you does - Any inputs worth sharing?
Also - Any recommandations for specific model, curved one or not, or any extra information will be great.
(I don׳t want to go crazy with the budget, a good valuable monitor around 600-800$ hopefully)
Thanks!
Superwide monitor

If you could stretch your budget a bit higher you might get new Dell U3415w curved. It has better panel/color performance (for graphics) than LG and it has adjustable height on stand whiel LG has fixed height.

I have same problem - thinking about switching from my 2x24" 1920x1200 IPS Asus panels into ...? 4K? I hesitate going with even 34" with 'only' 1440px. 4K gives 2160px which is a massive difference but at that price I'd be left with 28" only.
What do you think guys? Do you any experience with 4K?

4k at native resolution on a 28" screen size? No way, anythign beside 32" (31.5" in most cases) is gonna make you go blind in very short periodsmicha wrote:I have same problem - thinking about switching from my 2x24" 1920x1200 IPS Asus panels into ...? 4K? I've bought new monitor in December and i was thinking to go 4K at Dell 31.5" but it think it's still too small for a 60-80cm away from monitor so i opted for classic 16:10 30" (2560*1600) to replace my older 30" which after 7 years of usage had a bit of washed out colors and CCFL was starting to weaken.

Just run into this article by Simon Holmedal (we share pretty much the same needs):

The LG 34UM95 screen seems to offer plenty of space for layout customization. But defiantly not enough for working with 4k. Look at the image in the article of the LG sitting by the apple thunderbolt 27" display. It looks not that wider! at work i got an apple thunderbolt and it defiantly not big enough for working with 4k, but maybe this 31.5" is

jokes asside, Seiki Pro SM40UNP 40-inch 4K Desktop Display or..Philips 40ich 4k (terrible "review" - just pasted out as video to get the sale though) if..colors doesn't matter so much.. - big enough, though falling after some much more expensive stuff, that companies like dell produce (at way higher prices).

I think I'll stick to my 2x24" for now and wait for price drop. 40" seems to be what I need (+IPS quality).

I thought, I'd quickly share my experiences with the LG 34UM95-P.
I purchased the monitor when it was released and can report nothing but positive aspects.
The lighting is very evenly distributed even at very sharp viewing angles. Color and Contrast are excellent due to a very solid IPS panel. so are Gamma and Gammut values.
The initial standard calibration is pretty close to perfect (although I re-calibrated anyways).
The 21:9 aspect ratio opened up completely new scene set-ups for me (the necessary hardware required), since the max resolution is now 3440x1440 - not quite 4K but very close. I actually prefer it over 4K because of the aspect ratio - plus most applications run and look great on it whereas most apps still have problems on 4K monitors.
I've been working with a GTX Titan Black as a primary card and a GTX 780Ti as a secondary (both cards running 6GB of VRAM.) so far, there have been no problems whatsoever.
I'm mostly using the Poser and DAZ Studio Plug-Ins and you can check out some of my work here: http://trrazor.deviantart.com/
Working with this monitor has been a blast over the last couple of months and I highly recommend it to any artist who intends to work in this great aspect ratio.
It has dropped in price considerably since I purchased it at release.
Should you have any questions - please don't hesitate to ask

Hmm, what's the manufacturer of 780Ti with 6GB VRAM ? Where did you bought that one ?TRRazor wrote: I've been working with a GTX Titan Black as a primary card and a GTX 780Ti as a secondary (both cards running 6GB of VRAM.) so far, there have been no problems whatsoever.
