Hey guys,

I was recently trying to do some HDRI renders with backplates, but I couldnt figure out a workflow to use with octane.
Has anyone got experience with this? If I understood correctly, in Modo you would typically use 2 Environment Textures,
the HDRI that drives everything but is invisible to the camera and the backplate that has no influence on anything but is seen by the camera.
I am a former Max user so this might be the wrong way to do this. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Use the Texture Environment for your HDR. Then turn on Kernel->Alpha Channel, and you can composite your backplate in Gimp/Photoshop. There is also a facility (Kernel property) to load a background image, but this is for visualisation purposes only, and won't get saved to the png.
