I've seen this exact post for other hosts but I have not been able to find a solid answer specifically for C4D. Forgive me if this question is redundant.
If I were to purchase just the Cinema 4D Octane plugin is my 1.2 student license sufficient?
From what I've read in other posts I understand that if it does work then I would be limited to the functionality of 1.2. But I've also read that I would have to download the corresponding plugin release for 1.2. And as far as I can tell the C4D plugin releases started at 1.54.
Does this mean that using the C4D intergrated plugin with 1.2 standalone is not possible?
Thanks to whoever takes the time to read and answer. I appreciate the clarification.

Also, I have the 1.2 standalone. I have Cinema4D R17 Edu and Maya 2015 + 2016 Edu. Is there any hope for me being able to use Octane in C4D? Thanks!!!!
hi,
there's not any possibility to support old versions for C4D plugin. it's much complicated to try backward compatibility. Also there is lot of differences in Sdk since 1.20 even 1.54. Because of these that's impossible. Sorry for that.
