Quick question. I just started using octane today and am noticing something really weird. In the tutorials I'm watching it shows info about the gpu in the lower right hand of the viewport. But on mine, it just says "0 textures, 0 tiles, 0 meshes, no CUDA GPUs, -/0.0MB"

This leads me to believe that octane isn't seeing my gpu. I have a geforce gtx 970 so it should be new enough so I don't know what's going wrong. If anyone can help, that'd be awesome ^^

Do you have your NVIDIA drivers updated?

I do. they're the latest "Game ready" drivers from Nvidia. Just downloaded them yesterday if I'm correct.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting us.

Unfortunately, the GTX 970 is not compatible with the OctaneRender Student License. This is due to the Student version of OctaneRender being limited to version 1.2

See here for more information:

http://render.otoy.com/octanebench/summ ... 1x+GTX+970

OctaneBench (http://render.otoy.com/octanebench/) is an excellent resource for assessing what GPU card will best suit your needs.

You also have the option to use OctaneVR instead. You can access it from here: http://home.otoy.com/vr-competition/#download-vr. OctaneVR is available for free over the next two months.

Just noticed this myself.

Is there any hope that those with a student licence will be able to get a higher version that can use the GTX 970 and other modern graphics cards?

Or that version 1.2 may get support for those graphics cards?

Thanks.

hi,
as azen already said, download OctaneVR for now, you can have access to the latest version without any kind of restriction, except for only limit of max two GPUs for calculation ;)
It will works till the 1 of August, then we will see what will happen for both student licence and OctaneVR.
your nickname deserves to try it :D
