I hate lens flares in CG, they are usually very cheesy and ruin the image. Anamorphic lens-flares are a little bit better, but recently are over-used in movies, one in particular was Star Trek, A.K.A. "the lens flare movie"

personally I dislike all this hype 'bout lens flares & other effects (due to overusing in majorty of cases)..

reminds me a moment just after movie from Alex Roman..
when everyOne started using Chromatic Aberration an fail so badly..

3rd&7th

all these spices should be subtle..You will not become a better chef just throwing everything You got into the bowl..
but it seems not everyOne understands that..

as they say, "You Can Only Be As Good As Your Taste"..

P.S. Physicaly correct, doesn't automatically mean visualy pleasing.

Is it only me, but buying any lens I always look at chromatic aberration and I still don't get why some CGs think that its presence is 'more real'.

Some Lens System like in Maxwell Render would be nice.
Otherwise I mostly just use Optical Flares with After Effects.

With OSL, it may be possible to create a post processing node that would handle effects like this.

I think we can track lights in Nuke or AE but at the moment the orbx file doesn't expose lights outside the scene.
