Hello, I'm completely new to this rendering "thing" (other than a couple of quick and easy ones out of Revit in the past), and am having some issues right out of the gate. I just downloaded the demo for Revit 2016 and got this message upon my first render attempt. Any thoughts or suggestions?

"Unable to load 'Octane2WrapperDemo.dll': The specified procedure could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007F)"

hi, what's the hardware specs (esp. GPU model/nvidia driver) there? also, are you running any virtual environments similar to a Parallels software?

Hi - following on from Abby's question, you will need to make sure you have recent Nvidia drivers loaded in order to load the plugin dll. You can doublecheck that the plugin installer worked correctly by ensuring Octane2WrapperDemo.dll is present in the Revit.exe executable folder (ie. C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit Architecture 2016)

Hello and thank you for your quick replies,

I'm currently on an NVIDIA K600, Under my NVIDIA control panel 3d settings it show "CUDA - GPUs" settings as "all". I also checked online to check if this driver was CUDA compatible and found that it was. As for the Octane2WrapperDemo.dll file, it is present in the executable folder.

Upon first installing the demo, I realized Revit 2016 may have been running in the background, I have subsequently gone back, taken the files out of the executable folder (ensured the plugin was no longer in Revit) and reloaded them again with Revit not running in the background. I am still getting the same message.

At this time I'm still trying to read more and try to catch up with this technology to see if there is something else I've missed or done incorrectly.

Can you tell us your Nivida driver version pls? (ie. 3.44.65)

Also, download the Octane Standalone demo and see if it works. (there are demo scenes you can download too if you are unsure how it works - just load the demo scene and click the "Rendertarget" node.

That is too early. You need to update to the latest Nvidia drivers.

I have encountered the same situation having installed the Revit demo for both versions 15 and 16:
"Unable to load DLL 'Octane2WrapperDemo.dll': The specified procedure could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007F)"

I noticed on installation that Octane wants to install in a folder - C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit Architecture 2016

However, because we have a the suite of software from Autodesk, Revit is installed in a folder - C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit 2016

That pesky dll file is in the Revit folder, but perhaps the program is not adapting to the different folder structure?

I have tried the stand alone version of Octane and whilst I have no idea how to use it, it gets up and running error free.

(note: Nvidia Quadro K3100M, driver version 332.21)

Cheers,

-Will.

Hi Will - you need to install the plugin into the folder where Revit is installed (ie. C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit 2016).

Also Nvidia driver 332.21 is too early. If you update to the latest release the plugin should run.

Hi Paul. Thanks for the prompt reply.

The Octane demo is definitely installed in the same folder as Revit. The installer checks this. If you try to specify a different folder the installer will tell you that it can't find Revit. So no choice!

My previous post was trying to explain that the demo is assuming a default Revit folder which is not the same as what was chosen when installing. I am presuming because we bought Revit Suite and not Revit Architecture.

Does that help to explain the situation further?

Cheers
Will.
