I love how I can export my LW scene then import it into Octane standalone and it looks exactly as it does in LW. I long for the day I can do the Reverse.. and export my scene from Octane, import into LW. The benefits of this are massive, it means a college of mine using 3ds max could send me an octane file exported through max, then I can export from octane and import into LW. No more mucking about with FBX, recreating materials etc. Is there any chance this pipedream might become a reality?

You could load your external scene in LightWave, but only as external referenced black box to render it. As you could understand, expand a Octane .orbx scene inside LightWave is near impossible (build all objects and save them to .lwo files, build all materials, rebuild all animations, deformations ...)

So in other words no way to get there ?

woudl be massive as MrFurious explained.

BTW how does it Octane read it from LW exporter that fine and it can't go back to LW same way (as OBJs and Texture files) ?
