Development for Phantom Scatter 1.9 has started! I have some ideas to create tools that will compliment the scattering functionality.

I have something big planned, so this time I will do some closed 1.9 beta versions. If anybody is interested in testing when the time comes, that would be great! That would mean I could take your feedback into account, so it becomes usable for your own workflow too. ;)

Hi Guss,
Forgive me if this has been asked before. But would it be possible have Phantom Scatter interpret spaces in surface names? We have a large library or materials organised with comas and spaces to differentiate for example, 'Earth, Dirt' & 'Earth, Grass'....but these are only every shown as 'Earth,' in Phantom Scatter. I imagine for people coming from Revit, it would not be uncommon to encounter this situation. Could Phantom Scatter some how interpret the spaces and replace them with underscores if spaces are not possible.

Many Thanks,
Chris.

Hey Chris, I didn't know that was a problem. Because of the way OBJ works with the keywords, material names with spaces should really not be used... but maybe there is a workaround/fix. I will look into it. Could you send me one of your OBJs to my Phantom Scatter email ([email protected]). Then I can use that for testing.

A while back I promised to be packing some grass with Phantom Scatter, so users have something nice to work with from the get-go.

I am working on it now. :)

If anybody has any tips for the grass material, that is always welcome.

I found a really cool (and 100% free) Blender file on Blendswap, I took it and started to make it work with Phantom Scatter. Instead of a square patch, it's now a rounded patch with a gradual fade alongside the edges. That makes it very suitable. I will also make some smaller chunks for grass near the edges of a plane, so it doesn't look weird. I will get to that in a bit.

An announcement on something else I am working on that might interest you guys.

I'm working on a new tool in my Phantom Technology product line, another tool to aid the usage of Octane Render in practical situations.

It's called Phantom Photo Match, and it will allow you to load in a photo, set up 4 perspective lines in the photo, and then my algorithms will work out the camera position, target, up-vector and FOV for use in Octane Render.

I will sell it independently from Phantom Scatter, but it will be made available for Phantom Scatter users for FREE. :)

Hi, I would like to try Phantom Scatter, but I have a problem: I cannot use PayPal. Is there another way I can purchase it?
