Hey guys -

First time post on the forums...

So, I have been using Octane for about two months now. I have been using a 2011 Mac Pro with both a 780 and a Titan Black. All has been going well, getting to know the software.

It's safe to say, I'm in love with Octane. So in love, in fact, that I decided to go all in and ordered a loaded, liquid coooled, quad Titan Z, PC from a fairly well known manufacturer about a month and a half ago. After waiting a while for the build due to delays of the initial motherboard choice not working with the Titan Z's, the system finally shipped and arrived yesterday. To my extreme dismay, it would appear that FedEx did a major job on it, because the system arrived pretty banged up. The reservoir was completely empty, liquid was spilled all inside of the system and some of the sticks of RAM were thrown out of their slots. Needless to say, I am RMA'ing it. Manufacturer, so far has been completely accommodating and will rebuild a new system - so that's good.

Anyway, I was wondering what the consensus is out there. I had initially been thinking of re-configuring with four Titan X's prior to the system being shipped, but they were pretty far in with the build.

If you had your choice (money isn't my concern) - would you rebuild with the four Titan Z's or move to four Titan X's?

The posts I have read seem to indicate most would go with Titan X over Titan Z.

Thanks!

Jason

With 4xXs you'd get about 600 on water, with 4xZs about 800. But if you need 12GB go with X. BTW 4xX require only one 1500-1600W PSU, 4xZs 2x1200W or more.

Thanks, smicha.

Yep, that answer pretty much sums it up. Wondering if I should go with the higher VRAM...haven't really hit a ceiling yet with 6, but maybe in the future???

The system was configured with two 1200w PS.

Decisions, decisions!
