When I render out the beauty passes and composite them in Photoshop, I cannot get them to match the original render output.

I'm putting the direct diffuse layer on the bottom in "normal" blending mode, with the other layers on top in "linear dodge" blending mode. The result is way brighter and more exposed than it should be.

I have the tone mapping response set to linear and I've even tried turning off tone mapping. It doesn't help. I've also tried changing the gamma correction settings and turning off gamma correction entirely. Still doesn't help.

I don't know if this has to do with color profiles or what. Any suggestions?

I found the answer to my problem after hours and hours of banging my head.

Even with a linear setup, my beauty passes weren't adding up because of a glitch with the tone mapping. Even if tone mapping is toggled off, the final render is still by some of the tone map settings, while the passes are not. This seems to include, exposure, color balance, and vignette.

So my passes were slightly off because they have no vignette, but my render output does!
