I'm experimenting with the demo for use with Cinema 4D. Is there a shader/material for Octane that will cast shadows from the geometry it's applied to, but will be unseen by camera?

Also, my (limited) understanding is that a scene file in C4D is basically bundled up and sent to Octane as a single scene. Is there a way to open this scene in the stand-alone Octane program, and work with it there? Is there any benefit to working this way as opposed to working with the plugin in C4D itself?

Thanks

There may be a few advantages to work in standalone, but plugin is capable to serve all features and much more. Here is the example for your question.

Also see this free tutorials for seeing how to work:

Ah, thank you for the example. So all I have to do is uncheck the camera visibility box on the object tag.

Nice. I will do some more testing with the demo, but I think I'm going to have to buy this. It's crazy fast.
