Materials urgently editor needs fixing with 0.14.159 and SU 2015

Opens up blank sometimes. sometimes only with Live DB Can't rely on it.

Only way to fix is to restart SU.

Still bust.

sad face.

this is ridiculous I don't mean to rant but ever since I have bought the octane plugin for Sketchup there hasn't been one release(literally not a single one) that is 'usable' to get any rendering work done, the 'new releases' never addressed key issues that needs to be fixed, countless hours were spent looking for a workaround and at the end of the day it is always going back to TIG's exporter.

I mean, if it is a minor bug or missing feature I'm all good with that, heck sketchup crashes every now and then however it is solid for most parts. But now we are looking at a rendering plugin where you 1.cannot edit materials without some kind of bug/crashes, 2.have a UI that is close to unusable, 3. does not even allow you to export to octane standalone correctly when all else fails. I doubt anyone can get anything done besides a simple cartoonish rendering with only simple sky as light source and a few materials assigned

Guys,

I understand your frustration. We're all waiting for new UI interface, standalone-like with nodal approach. Be patient, go with standalone for now.

indeed. One of the best ways now is to export geometry in chunks & manage rendering out in standalone that in one or another way anyOne should have.

Whats quickest way to export to standalone studio? Do I have to start the render once in Sketchup so it builds the octane geometry then export as .ocs?
Sorry for the noob question, I'm just back to trying octane now I have a decent machine and the SU plugin seems very unstable.

I'm sorry but here is simply no good exporter from sketchup to standalone.
Don't even bother with the SU plugin for exporting as the way it is exported it is again unusable in standalone.
I guess you could use TIG's plugin for export IF you keep your poly count low.

Non of my models are low poly, might have to go back to Thea until this is sorted!

TIG's exporter works like a charm. Just export each component separately and join them with the 'geometry group' node in the standalone.
