I've been noticing a lot of really nice looking plush fabric models in the interior renders; things such as pillows, blankets couches, duvets, that all of nice wrinkles and folds in them. Are you guys modeling these assets or buying them from some sort of interior design resource? If you're modeling them, how are you making all of the nice wrinkles in the fabrics?

I remember in the past, these types of models never had the level of detail you see now. Now, every render seems to have perfect fabric with realistic folds in it, so I was curious about how these are done.

the folds are usually creating using a sculpting program. I think most people just purchase premade ones because it takes a long time to make them look good.

Try evermotion or turbosquid.

Cool thanks. Yeah, I figured they were sculpted, but like you said, that takes a long time. I couldn't imagine these archviz people taking the time to sculpt every on of these so perfectly; a project would never get finished! I'll check there. I always forget about evermotion, thanks.

..alternatively You can get a Marvelous designer that is relatively easy to master & use that to simulate all those effects if You have to create more than few models..-Sculpting requires a lot of realworld knowledge, while simulations programs let's You get realistic results easier..but..You need some realworld knowledge bout how to cut some fabrics to look good =) but still it might be easier to learn than sculpting software & gather all required reference to get the same result..

wow, that gives some really nice results! is that usable for firmer stuff such has pillows and couch cushions? alternatively, for the basic stuff like blankets and curtains, I should be able to do the same thing with maya's built in cloth stuff, right? I'm trying to stay away from sculpting and get more of an "automatic" result due to time constraints.

they will give you a pretty idee about wat's possible.
Alternative you can use them as a base in you're preffered modeling app.

I have to think that physics stuff will be coming to ZBrush before long, which would really help bigtime with cloth stuff obviously. *crosses fingers*
