I've noticed a problem - I'm not sure if this is a problem in octane, or a problem in cuda, or a problem in c4 plugin. Here is what happens:

If C4D crashes the when it's restarted render times are almost doubled - I can see the 50%-ish decrease in the octane speed. Restarting C4D does not help so the only way I found as a solution is to restart the computer to get my speed back. If there is a way to restart cuda (not sure if this makes sense or possible) I can test this.

This can be tedious as octane is not the most stable piece of software and sometimes crashes frequently.

Any ideas/suggestions? (Maybe this is not a bug?)

This not looks like a bug report, also a personal idea. Can be deceptive all other people here. Without giving any concrete infos about crashes, don't expect any solution here. People can say it's crashes, but when we look that. People thinks cuda errors are a kind of plugin crashes. Also you may have HW problems. Give here more info about what's the crashes, and how occurs?

It's very random, no identifiable pattern to my crashes really.
I'm using a dedicated 780ti (not used for my monitors) for rendering out. Everything's up to day, I'm getting no problems in nothing else.

I'd love to provide more information - what do you need?

Since version 2.16 I've also encountered crashes and similar random slowdowns.
Up until that version everything worked smooth. At this point the standalone version because unresponsive when I open the program (application not responding error).

And opening cinema gives med the very annoyning "plugin liboctane has caused a crash".
It is really hard troubleshooting, as the only way for me to get it running is to reinstall the program.. Then, when a crash occurs I am not even able to open cinema without deleting the octane plugin.

Since everything was running smooth earlier, I am beginning to think its some nvidia driver or cuda issue.

I had random crashes on complex scenes on Mac Pro 5,1 with Octane 2.21, a Titan and OSX 10.9. After updating to Yosemite (10.10.2) everything runs very smooth, so it was definately not an Octane render problem, but something to do with graphics drivers, so make sure to always update everything, I guess...

Guys, if you say crashes PLEASE put some bugreport.zip here also more trackable info here. Personally i'm on Windows and using plugin for some complex jobs. I can say that's %99 stabile. We need to understand what's your crashes, else you're writing to water surface.

PLEASE read release topics for BUGREPORTING details.
