What do we do until summer?

So now that Octane 3 has been announced, there is a lot of excitement for the new features. But the press release states that it will be released as Closed Beta in summer, and the public release will probably arrive in autumn or even later this year. Fair enough.
But what should we expect until then? There still will be updates for the 2.x cycle? Or there won't be any update until v3 beta?

Plus: Is it still being tested behind closed doors as a closed alpha/beta?
And if not, is there still a way to get in?

I think devs mentioned they are going to polish v2 for stable release - think there's some bugs to be fixed so that's where the work goes in =)
