Is there a way to get motion blurred reflections? Like, if there is a camera targeting and moving with a car so the environment is moving by in the reflections. Is there a way to add motion blur to that? RSMB will almost never work for something like this unless you were to export a multiple of the frames you need and run the plugin on the high framerate export. Even if there could be motion blur added to specular reflections, that would be a nice help.

I think it's not physically true. If you camera is static to movement of car, reflections will not be blurred.

It must be physically true that reflections can have motion blur but in that scenario, I think it is just rare because it depends on the distance the object is from the car. Thinking of something like a sign on the side of the road or a mailbox, or something like a streetlight sweeping over a car. It is hard to notice in practical examples but I can probably find something out there or make my own. I am in a situation with glossy opjects and fast moving lights and it seems as though there should be some motion blur.

Regardless, I imagine that if this was possible in CG, the render times must be large.

if the camera moves along with the object (a car for example) the reflections of the surrounding objects (trees, buildings, street, other cars..) will get properly blurred if motion blur is activated.
however - a non-poly environment like a tex/hdri environment should be very difficult to behave the same way.
there is no info about how close to the camera (or reflection) certain objects in the environment are.
