Now I don't know whether this is possible but if it was possible to render a project from one plugin in another - say DS to Lightwave - then that would be a massive advantage for those of us who use more than one 3D program. Set up a project in DAZ, add more elements in Lightwave and render using Octane. I have no idea if this could work but considering OTOY has a range of plugins based on the Octane Render architecture maybe a way could be found to integrate them much more? Neither iRay nor Indigo could compete with that.
my personal opinion is that this is not only a cool idea, but also doable - i.e. some sort of proxy graph on top of a dma interlink framework or sthg. similar. and if there is enough demand there is always a chance that otoy is taking an idea up...
The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply

That's been our long term plan since 1.5 introduced ORBX.

A lot of people are about to discover how poor their opacity and spec maps for hair are, and dang, prebaked hair shaders suck in this light. Who put the shadows in that scarf before rendering?

Any ways, I stand by my claims that it will be 6 months before Daz has this properly rolled out.
Yes, it's amazing how an unbiased renderer exposes poor content. I have content that looks great in the product renders and looks cheap and poorly designed when rendered in Octane Render. But on the other hand there are some old gems that really come to life in OR. A good design is a good design regardless of when it was created (within reason!) Especially when pimped-up in new materials. Hopefully, once DAZ has iRay up and running all DAZ PA's and third party content developers will up their game.

T3 or Goldorak maybe could answer this just a quick question in general.
Iray are base .MDL format, which is plain text file with shaders,

Believe octane is based on the same technology as iray.

What file format are our shaders, I'm taking it MDL format as well.?

face_off Paul as implemented (copy materials to clipboard) as their textbased.
I'm hoping to see this in the daz up-and-coming plug-in ? (t3 if you could answer this)

And other platforms because quite frankly, it's really handy

thanks

Just wanted to let you guys know that DAZ3D is actually closely monitoring these and probably other Octane-related boards.
The post I made two pages earlier (where I back t_3s position) and go on and talk a bit about my "experiences" in regard to their ways of "communicating" with customers?

Received an apology the same day I made that post via e-Mail but also got one of our products refused as well, which was in their reviewing-pipeline for about a week now.
I guess they feel the pressure and I think Octane was and probably always will be their target when it comes to achieving quality and speed.

Sorry for off-topic - carry on :)

That doesn't surprise me at all to be quite honest

Me neither!

We've been trying to tell OTOY and t_3 that not only is DAZ monitoring these boards - so are some of DAZ's customers! Is it likely that they are going to buy into a product that's been in beta for 3 years? Ok, I did but that was over a year ago and there was no alternative then. I'm sorry, but blaming DAZ for being uncommunicative or competitive isn't the whole story and that convenient excuse just doesn't reflect well on OTOY as a company. The first step in solving product delays is to take responsibility for them - not pass the buck. Some of the excuses being raised here sound a bit like the dog ate my homework. Heaven knows what potential customers reading these forums must think!

its already there. whenever you use "copy to clipboard" somewhere (either mat context menu, or ctrl+c on mats, render settings page, environments page, etc,), or ctrl-click the export buttons, or ctrl+c when the viewport is active (only for cameras), the orbx/xml version is put to the system clipoard (there is a status line entry showing up also) and can be pasted elsewhere (i.e. standalone). other direction works as well...

Thank you for taking the time to clarify that. I have Already transferred over everything I need to by hand anyhow . But it's good to know it's there. I will try and make some experiments late today

since only registered users come here, probably nothing. what doesn't mean it is good by any means.

but, btw. why did nobody of _in particular_ the people that were pushing here in the forum, also in direction of otoy, ever reach out for me by i.e. writing me a pm? my inbox was empty from january until last weekend. so, why? is it more fun trying to stress me in public? does it look like this helps me coding faster? i'm just curious...
