Liagriest, would you be so kind to tell us what you went through, to get to the point you're at right now, with switching licenses and whatnot? Any details would be very helpful..
You need to email them and email them and email them. Otoy doesn't give a shit about customer service at all and it shows. I wouldn't be surprised if they only had one support person for the whole company. It's not where they put their efforts. If you ask them a question they just tell you to ask the question in the forum ( at least that is what they told me to do ) Which I am totally fine with... I am even happy to pay for support if I needed it to me as the product is the most important part.

Octane is awesome. It really has changed this whole world that many of us work or play in. I just wish it worked with Daz like it said it would when I paid for it. Thats what the frustrating part is.... we are so damn close but not there. if they could just get animation to work and the whole weird compatibility issues i dont care about the other bugs i could live with it.

In other plugin forums the devs take an active role and try to address any problems so I can see the point in asking for help on other plugin forums but here we're reliant on each other. Some of you here have been very helpful and know a lot about DS, the plugin and rendering but we shouldn't have to rely on each other. OTOY must realise that's not acceptable? Support is not just about troubleshooting bugs - it's also about helping new customers as they learn how to use the plugin and offering tips and tricks to use the plugin more creatively.

Spectralis i agree there are some incredibly awesome people here in the forum ( non-otoy ) and the community here is exceptional. But to get on your point about Otoy realizing that poor ( no ) customer support is not acceptable I think they realize it, they just don't honestly care.

When you are like OTOY and have something nobody else does... they don't need to worry about anything else than what that thing is that they have. No customer service, charging for broken alpha/betas, etc. etc. etc. They just dont care because they have the monopoly on this specific product and our numbers are likely small compared to their standalone customers. I bet they have single customers that buy more seats of Octane for just one company than all us Daz plugin customers combined.

iClone now has Indigo and if the devs at Indigo released a version for DAZ it would be hasta la vista, baby in a second for me. It can use both NVidia and ATi cards and the renders look good. You're right that a little competition might change OTOY's complacency. I wonder if DAZ is already in negotiations with a render developer for a future v5 release of DS?

Yes, I've used this with iClone 5 Pro but it's a lot of hassle and I'd have to pay $199 to upgrade to iClone 6 Pro/Indigo. Working in iClone 5 Pro with DAZ content isn't ideal and the conversion doesn't look as good as using the same content in DS. Indigo looks good though and if DAZ integrated Indigo into a future version of DS then I'd probably say goodbye to OR.
