I have been working with the Cinema 4D plugin for a while and I am considering getting the Maya plugin. I thought this would be a good place to get answers to a few questions...
Is the Octane for Maya plugin able to render to the viewport?
Is it possible to manage network rendering for animation so that each node renders separate frames? It seems like that speeds things up a little bit but I could be wrong.
Is the material converter useful? Cinema 4D's is pretty good, just had to reset a couple things in most materials each time but minimal guesswork.
Is there a way to convert V-Ray materials to Octane materials easy? I know this is a long shot but figured I would ask.
Thanks!!
render to viewport?

I am also wondering if it's possible to render Octane motion blur on Maya fluids or Realflow fluids. how about motion blur with particles and hair?

PS - I am asking this because there is no MAC version of the demo. I am probably going to just go ahead and buy it and find out the hard way but if anyone can let me know about this, that would be great!

I don't know about the motion blur. Don't think octane can render fluids or (non instanced) particles. Hair should be possible.
No viewport renderer. You can dock the renderview but can't navigate it.
Octane renders with multiple machines on the same frame like MR satelite. If you want multiple machines each rendering their one frames you will need a rendermanager.
Converting materials is not the workflow I use because Octane and Maya/MR/Vray materials are pretty different. Many maya nodes do not have an octane counterpart.
