Hello Everybody,

maybe I have overread any clues on if there might be any problems on having several 780tis + titanz Z.

In Octane you can simply switch GPUs on and off, has anyone got any problems doing so when having GPUs with largely different ammount of VRAM?

My Idea was as follows:
1. On Big scenes that need more than 2,5 GB VRAM switch off the 780 TIs and only use the titan Z
2. On smaller scenes with less than 2,5GB VRAM needed still be able to use all GPUs

I suppose its going to work like that but wanted to hear if someone has really done it that way ;)

Titan Z on air takes 2.5 slots - so you'll have to place it under 780s in a very large case (900D)

This should work as you said but be prepared for high temps on aircooling.
3090, Titan, Quadro, Xeon Scalable Supermicro, 768GB RAM; Sketchup Pro, Classical Architecture.
Custom alloy powder coated laser cut cases, Autodesk metal-sheet 3D modelling.

Sebastian, check his signature =) He's already watercooling those..

Short answer would be..No problems =)

Though I would plug screens into TitanZ, so it vram for monitors & system would be "eated" from there =) So You would have smaller amount 3GB instead of 2.5GB =)

remember interesting fact: out-of-core feature..- now this raise a question, what if You have mixed cards & that enabled =) technically You should be able to work with bigger scenes using all cards (if You can fit everything but textures in 3GB - if Your monitor is plugged in Z =)

Hey guys, THANKS for the quick replys.

To give propper credit to smicha I just updated my signature :P

Thanks to glimpse for pointing out the out of core feature, I forgot about that again. Have read several posts about it and it giving not so bad impact on rendertimes which really sounds like a big relieve. Unfortunatley its not that easy to find titan Z and a fitting waterblock and I would also have to rebuild my whole system but thats the way it is with watercooled rigs :/

After all this was just a mind play. I guess I will stick to my current rig at least for the next 3-6 months.
