Hi marcus,
thanks for this great version :)
the "out of core" option is very interesting but i can enable it only on the PC via demon installer, on the mac side i can't find a way for enable it :roll:
which is the right syntax for activate the out of core option via bat file?

Sometimes when we load an Octane file, or grab something from our local database, it can't find the texture. I know it hasn't moved, but it needs me to tell it where it every once in a while. Does anyone else get this problem?

It hasn't been hooked up with the OSX daemon install scripts yet. It will be with the next release.

Hi guys, I was just testing some materials with the rounded edges feature. If I use a mix material to mix 2 materials, the rounded edge stops working. Can this be fixed?

EDIT: Maybe the mix material needs it's own edge rounding value?

i can`t reproduce it now, that`s weird.
same scene still renders for about 2 hours now with no crash
Octane 2022.1.1 nv535.98

x201t - gtx580 - egpu ec

THIS!!!!

Sorry to bark on but I simply cannot use V2 for what I bought it for. I've waited 7 months for this limitation to be fixed and we are hearing nothing about it. When I ask, I get ignored. Is it high on your priorities?

If you can't fix this problem then it would be prudent to offer refunds to those who cannot use v2. I'm still on 1.55 because of this limitation.

displacement does not work with procedural maps

Hey, a few things I would love to see added as well. My experience with Octane comes from the c4d plug primarily so excuse me if I seem a bit off here or in the wrong thread overall:

1. Materials - can we control the mapping of different channels with a custom spline curve as well ? (not only float and texture inputs)
2. Materials - I find it rather limitting that the index channel is only controled by a float value - no mapping via texture? or ultimately by a custom spline curve?
3. Materials - The ability to calculate the reflection curve of materials by a combination of two values - Refractive index (IOR which we currently have) + value for an Extinction coefficient (common for conductive materials like metals)? This "Extinction coefficient" cab be added to the Index channel as an additional field so we end up with 2 paramaters there. P.S C4D R16 just impleneted this in their new Reflectance channel after quite a long wait for the users.
4. More shaders. A way to combine shaders via blending modes?
5. XYZ Displacement
6. Displacement + Procedural shaders
7. Support for C4D Vertex maps?
8. Support for the Mograph Shaders in C4D - this is a MUST, I cannot stress it enough. I will bold it.
9. Something strange happened with HDRI maps in an Environement node a few builds ago - It became considerabely slower when rotating the map with x/y rotation. It used to be so light and fast.
10. Light linking + the ability to turn on or off object cast or received shadows. I realize this is against the "physically correct" nature of Octane but even in real world light is intentionally altered one way or another for artistic or whatever purposes.
11. A way to render splines without generating and assigning polygons to them.
12. Baking textures.


I understand these cant happen in a click or probably some wont happen at all. However I will be truely happy if they are at least noted or taken into consideration whenever possible.
Dont mind the long list - I find Octane a pleasure to work with.
