Hi guys,

Each time I export obj from 3ds max and import to Octane, it becomes only one wire. I mean it just merges into one texture.

Anyone knows why?

Thanks

because it is like that =) & there's nothing to do.. every .obj file will have a single set of textures.

The way around could be simply export multiple objects (I mean if You don't have hundreds), but lets say, when I'm working with interiors I would export walls, they ceiling & then walls =) slowly add furniture sets (like table+ chairs, coach + table&lamp, etc..)..- this might seem to be insane, but it as You develop Your scene You can simply turn on&off what You need or move those if You wish =) plus You have controlled sets with their textures (so You could optimise the resolution if let's say these assets are further in the scene). You can also turn parts of the scene to see how much impact they make on Your vRam usage..

Not for all this mentioned workflow works out =) but that's my preference way of doing things inside standAlone.

Thanks for quick reply.

But actually what I meant is when I got a nice model in 3ds max (say a sofa)but I would like to export it to OBJ, when I import that OBJ Octane, all sofa becomes one texture node only (like the sofa feet and main body the same). It is not problem of octane as in the MTL there is only one wire left.

This one bothers me so long.

It must be problem of 3ds max side. I can only export to FBX then convert to OBJ. But sometimes things got messed up during conversion. As I said, if export to OBJ, then all textures merge into one.
