Hi Guys
I am working in Cinema C4D with a scene containing about 20 high-poly trees. Let's say one tree takes about 400 Mb of memory. I have used then an instance object (render instance allowed) of the tree expecting that the used memory will stay the same 400 Mb, but the instance object takes next 400 Mb of memory. Only then next copies of the instance don't used more memory. Unfortunately with more different types of trees this makes it complicated. Is there any option how to avoid the problem with the first instanced object? Fxp my colleague in 3D MAX doesn't have this problem since the properties of the object must be adjusted before instancing. I have tried to find an answer on this forum, but I couldn't.
Many thanks for your help.

What's your version? Memory doubling problem is improved in 2.16.
EDIT: forget this to mention. You should use object tag on main mesh. Otherwise this mesh will be collected in a single mesh with all static meshes. So instances will have to create a second copy of this mesh.

The object tag was the key. I have tried that before too, but I had to do a mistake somewhere. In a new scene it works. Thanks for your help.
But can I have another question? I have tried many things lights and specular material but I can't get rid of visibility of an area light behind a specular material / glass even though I deactivate the visibility in the light features. It is a bit painful while doing evening visualization of a house with large glass areas while I need to put additional lights for sufficient illumination which can't be seen in the interior. Is there any way how to fix it ? Many thanks for any advice.
