Two more renders.

I switched the center texture with a higher res one, the original texture was a bit low res since the reference was low res. After searching the interweb i found a nice central piece and used it. Improved also the scratches/bumps etc... Also, you can now see some of the underside, it's textured as well.

The central painting is a boat with Dionysos in it, with some drunken dolphins roaming around... Of course, all decorated with grapes :)

Cheers

I started modelling the scene and working out the story.

The story is basically about two pots, one good one evil. The good one is used by the master of the house to hold wine and the evil one is jealous of him so one day he decides to fall over the good one and spill the contents on the ground, to take his place so to speak.

First tests, working out the camera etc..

I'm using blender for the fluid simulation, it's WIP atm, not satisfied yet with the outcome, but i will improve it for sure.

The second pot is the evil one and i have some surprise for him, but you will see it later on, when i do the texturing. I will update this post more and more as i progress with the scene setup.

I have one single problem, the max2octane script cannot export rotation values for camera. So my camera in max is rotated, as you can see from the two renders but in octane it has no rotation, see the octane render with just the first pot. Anyone know a fix for this?

The composition renders are done in max, with MR and the daylight test is octane. i don't have time to do all tests in octane, for sake of speed and time, because if i change something to the scene then i have to re-setup octane from scratch.

Started to do some tests in Octane with different lighting conditions. Still working on the fluid.

Update time.

So, did the fluid with blender, i'm quite satisfied with it's shape. I've started to texture everything, i still need to texture the second pot, it's unwrapped but i couldn't find the time to paint the texture. And also the wall.
Also, i will improve the grass/pebbles, there's still some work to do there and maybe i will add some details on the wall.

Basically, i tried to see how the scene will start to look when it's going to be finished.

At the moment, i really wish we could have transparent shadows, it really spoils the look of the liquid quite a lot. Hopefully, future versions will bring them into octane :P.

On this test render, i just did basic color correction, framing and some sharpening. 13 minutes on a GTS 250 1GB at 1280/720 res. I used direct lighting rendering and daylight lighting.

Cheers
