hi Paul currently doing quite a lot of animation with an octane,

And wondering what is the easiest way to do this? Is it doesn't seem to work within octane
there's a camera position on poser call posing camera that basically keeps your character within the window
that doesn't seem to work on octane itself? Is it possible to have this implemented at some point
because I'm finding extremely helpful in setting up stuff within animation?

Could this be done ?

Poser applies any camera parenting or "point at" functionality AFTER the camera transform. The Octane camera is sync'd to the Poser camera transform - so it is not getting any adjustments from the "point at" or parenting. So at this stage, the answer to your question is "No" - however I have forwarded this question to Smith Micro to see if there is a workaround.

Thanks
it would be a really useful tool to have . Okay let's say there is no workaround we can find anything for it?

How would you suggest that I keep the character in the what I'm doing at the moment is importing a lot of BHV files
which obviously takes the camera to strange places on certain imports.
I'm basically trying to keep the character in focus and in camera of you at all times

The BVH file shouldn't move the camera (but yes, the figure might be anywhere). At the moment you need to manually animate the camera, tweaking the direction so it is always on the subject. There is probably a way to do it (if you are good with maths) but exporting to ORBX, then writing some LUA code in Octane Standalone to move the camera to follow a particular mesh item. Or there might already be a python script available somewhere which will face the Poser camera to a prop (without using the "point at" function).

I will let you know if Smith Micro come back with better option.
