Ahha, so its not ram being used, its actually available ram? That makes more sense.
I thought as I was getting 'unable to write file' at 4k I was running out of ram. Trying 4k again today it seems to work now !?? Did you find any issues with this 'unable to write file' thing in the version before this (im on 2.2.0 RC1)

yes, i'm going to change info lines. Will be better on next version. 4k is not too big for octane. I'm doing much biggers and never saw this error. Maybe a problem on files else octane.ten wrote:Ahha, so its not ram being used, its actually available ram? That makes more sense.

I just tried 8k for lols and it shows about a 1gig free ram on the render, but still gave this 'unable to write file' issue at the end of the frame. Any idea what might be the cause?

Ok, so 4k did work, but I went to try it again after 8k and it failed again.
Here is a screen grab of the frame rendering...
And here is the error message. As I say, 4k worked a moment ago before I tried 8k :-/

ten,
what's the save format and render buffer type? Btw, what's your fonts on c4d? I see your onscreen info is messed. Doesn't fit to graphic elements

Ahhh.... im so dumb, output format was to .mov just for test animation renders. Of course .mov probably does not support those resolutions lol...
Sorry for wasting your time, Ahmet and thanks for the help
Regarding the font, Its the standard c4d font but I had to increase size as I have a 4k monitor which makes the gui words almost impossible to read. Would be cool if octane scaled its font with this??

nice that you found the mistake. I like to give you a preview version for seeing improved info fonts. I like to see is it fitted to graphics. Is this possible?
