Hello !
Here's my GPU hardware : 1 X GT120 for my displays and 1 X GTX 980 for Octane.
I don't understand why the memory usage is so low : about 280 MB used (about 4095 available)...
Is there a way to fix it, please ?
low memory usage...?

You would be happy for that. It means that your scene is using the 276mb of available vram. Total usable memory is 3225mb. Rest is going to OS and other software except Octane.

Sorry to thread hike, its in a similar vain, Im also bit confused about vram usage.
So my project says its using 300mb ram in the live viewer. Then I go to render it out and each frame says its using 2.7gb of vram. Is there any correlation between the live viewer stats and render stats for vram? How can I predict if my project will run out of vram when I come to render if the live viewer shows me having tons of vram left?
Thanks!

what's the render output sizes? Only possible to see too big differences, if you are doing much bigger outputs against live viewer's size.ten wrote:Sorry to thread hike, its in a similar vain, Im also bit confused about vram usage.

Im exporting at 1080p mostly. I tried 4k on the same project and it said 'unable to write file' which im guessing means im out of vram ??

Also I find if I export at something smaller than 1080p, say 800x400 it still shows as using 2gig+ per frame, the same as 1080p, although live viewer shows around 300mb.

Hi Ahmet,
Here are two screen grabs.
The first is a render at 800x500. You see in the LV im using 296mb, but in the picture viewer 2.4GB.
In the second shot I am rendering at 1920x1200. LV is about the same at 295mb, and pretty much the same again the picture viewer. 2.4GB.
Is this correct?

yes, it shows free/max vram. This may be confusing for the people.
