Main changes since version 2.16a
  • Fixed low quality render element render.
  • Fixed bug where render elements render after being deleted.
  • alpha reflections. A new option in the specular material that, if enabled, will give specular materials alpha transparency if the alpha channel is enabled in the kernel settings. The way how that works is by making reflections opaque and but refractions transparent. As a consequence, absorption, SSS and coloured specular transmission are not properly rendered with this option enabled.
Due to the switch to CUDA 6.5 you will need a current graphics driver of version 344.x or higher.

At the moment there is no proper way for implementation of multi uv channels. octane standalone implementation doesn't allow to do that without extra GPU memory consumption even if it is not used.

Thanks Karba,

Will the new Render Layer options be implemented in 3ds Max plugin? Or, or those options already available?

Thanks for the continued updates.

Is there anything happening regarding support for render time opensubdiv available in 3dsmax 2015 or even Turbosmooth?

Octane render layers were designed only for compositing purposes. They work differently from 3dsmax layers. I don't see any way to get any useful usage in 3ds max.

opensubdiv is buggy. and it works before render start, not during render time. 3dsmax turbosmooth works much better.

So, no way to have this in 3ds max?
For example by tagging objects? like we tag them with octan properties?
