Hi,

Maya seems to freeze any time I do anything with Octane (EX assign a new shader to a surface). The problem sounds a lot like this...but the problem was described back in 2012, I imagine it should be solved?

Any ideas? I have a gtx 660ti.

Hi Sally,

My first suggestion would be to make sure you have the latest nvidia drivers from their website http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

I definitely have the latest plugin. The standalone Octane Render works...it's just the Maya plugin that's failing.

Your freeze happens during the plugin tries to get the material preview ball from the Octane engine (this is the modal operation). So, the fact that the engine never returns the material preview rendered - signs than there is something wrong with on the level after the plugin's responsibility, plugin just "hangs" waiting for the material preview rendered. Perhaps something with GPU settings or drivers setup...
Please, don't operate by terms "latest" - name please exact versions. As e.g. the Maya's demo has two "latest" versions - one stable in download area and one "test" in forum's Maya section.
