rappet,

My thoughts: 2xZs = 4 gpus go at average of 800mhz on core, mem 3000, while 780ti at 1125 on core and 3500 on mem. Octane will use 25% out of memory speed increase and 75% from core. Hence we have so called 'smicha indicator' :) (I am neglecting cuda cores 'cause they are the same)

for Z: 800*0.75 + 3000*0.25 = 1350
for 780Ti : 1125*0.75 + 3500*0.25 = 1718.75

Hence 780Ti is (1718.75/1350=1.27) 27% faster for Octane purposes, but we all see how air cooling is killing Zs performance - these babies can go on water easily at 1200/3500 giving us:

1200*0.75+3500*0.25=1775, that is 1775/1350 => 31% faster cards. So 2xZs perform not as 4 gpus but as 5.25 - :D

You "saw" real card & GPUZ etc..it's available for purchase & You can't write anything here..- well, I haven't read more nonsence in a single line for a long time =) sorry to come with this but You read too much rumors..& that not an information..Just dreamy thoughts..
Long story :) :)
Actually I have exactly the same question to that guy, especially the titan X(12G vram version) news everywhere,I just couldn't figure it out why 780ti-6g comes so late until now with a lower price(3000CNY=480$ maybe),also,I just skiped the detail conversation with him,in fact, the 3000CNY comes with no fan,you only can pay 3k to "The bare card" and you need to buy fan(200CNY) shell by yourself :) obviously he is selling the 780ti-6g illegally! I do saw the real card, the fan shell looks like ASUS's 780-6g,but I didn't take a phot shot
gpuz.jpg
Today,I start a chat with this guy,and comes with a gpu-z snapshot, also he is complaining about that the factory is now have 780ti-6g "full loaded" but he is now forbidden to sell any 6g version of 780ti! (looks like the NV manager finally catch him  )But still,he is selling the 780ti-6g by second hand(still 3000CNY,still no fan)

So this is the full story!! I am suggesting people wait for a while to see the NV's next move(whatever the 780ti or the titan X 12g version),but accroding to this guy, obviously purchasing a titan black or a titan Z is not a right timing now  I also agree with that!

Very interesting, Kevin.

my suspicion is that this card is actually tweaked/modified (or repaired) TitanBlack that GPUz identifies as 780Ti..(internally those cards are very similar, except the vRam)..

it makes little to no sense..-but who knows, maybe nVidia is going to bring new version of "old" card with more vRAM..-though it's a bit fishy all this (don't fall into some sort of a scam)..

agree on timing - it's the best to way a little (if You have no rush), though for those who need power badly TitanZ or 780 6GB (if watercooling planed) are still a good deal! =)

Im surprised, but unless there is some error, than is 580 still king for octane ? Thats mighty strange results i got here :

No strange score result there. Most likely, no score error at all. I've got five of those GTX 580s (in the 3G Classified version with 2x8-pins plus a 6-pin) and am not currently considering selling any of them (paid about $200 a piece for each of them two years ago). Pics below are of one of them performing in my old 2007 MacPro2,1, yielding 11.90 (PT) and 25.11 (DL). The other 4 are in a single Windows system and they perform almost exactly four times better, yielding about 101+1 (DL) and 48+1 (PT).

The 580's are Fermi cards. They're extremely efficient with Octane.

Great scores. What is a distance between cards? Did you use raisers?

Thanks Smicha. I hope that you are healthy and happy.

Those four GPUs are right next to each other on a Gigabyte UP4 motherboard (without any raisers) mounted in a SilverStone Raven 3 [ rv03b ] case. The thermals are better controlled because of how the motherboard, and thus the GPUs, is/are oriented, with the heat exhausted straight up out the top of the case. The GPUs hang vertically and resemble bats hanging upside down from the roof of a cave. Thermally, with the help of two large diameter stock fans seated at the bottom of the case and drawing in air from floor level, heat just rises straight up out of the top of the case, rather than from out of the back of the case like most GPU- atop- GPU-on-air builds. Moreover, the heat from one GPU doesn't have as great of an heat effect on its neighboring GPU, although the inner two GPUs are generally a degree (F) or two warmer than their outside neighboring GPUs. Doesn't this thermal design also mimic the 2013 MacPro cylinder and nature (cooler air is lower than warmer air) ? I like it so much that I've flipped most of my other systems, lowering the GPU temps by 5 to 10 degrees (F) by orienting their fans to pull air up from the floors (I know - keep them clean) and by thus orienting their GPUs to blow warmer air more easily out of the back (now the top) of their cases, such as my 2007 MacPros that I've outfitted each with 3 GPUs. I haven't flipped my lid, have I?

Tutor,

Thank you. My two daughters, my wife and me are very good. I talled them that there is a passionate guy, Tutor, full of positive energy on the forum. They were amazed as I am.

The vertical setup with extra fans at the bottom does great job. The temperature scores are so good, especially that you set core clocks so high on air. If you want to keep them clean there are custom demciflex filters.
