Hi Paul,
I've searched the forums but cannot find how to import an orbx scene file from Rhino 5 to Modo 701?
(The orbx file works fine in the standalone 2.16)
Is there a command to import the orbx file into Modo 701?
(Material file import works fine from the local db--I just can't figure how to import scenes).
Thank you,
Nathan
Import Orbx file into Modo 701 (from Rhino)

Hi Nathan - I don't believe it's possible to import entire ORBX scenes (including geometry) into any of the Octane plugins - only single materials. To get an entire scene from Rhino to Modo you would need to load the .3dm file in Modo - and then transfer the materials one at a time via the LocalDb. In theory it may be possible to have the Modo plugin import ALL materials from an ORBX and assign them to the Modo Shader Tree groups automatically - and it's something I can investigate if there is sufficient need. Alternatively, I could add a Copy (to the Windows clipboard) function in Rhino for an Octane material, and a Paste (from the Windows clipboard) function in Modo - which would allow you to quickly copy/paste materials from Rhino to Modo.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the information. Yes, a copy/paste function would be super if possible.
The other difficulty I have encountered is that my spherical HDRI rotation map does not "match" between Modo and Rhino, so I have to manually guess the proper rotation.
This process of manually trying to match xyz rotations is labor-intensive--maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it would be nice for them to align properly as I switch between Rhino & Modo depending on the modeling needed for the particular product shot/rendering.
(The standalone does pull in the correct HDRI spherical map from Rhino, obviously when saved as orbx.)
Thanks as always--wonderful plugins!

Nearly every 3d app uses a different HDR Map transform (and Modo is different from all others) - so using a Rhino HDR in Modo generally doesn't work. However all Octane plugins use the same format as Octane Standalone. The Modo plugin flips the HDR map in the X axis (sets the X scale to -100%) so the lighting in the Octane Viewport will match the Modo viewport. So in Rhino, you would need to do the same to get the to match. Not sure if that answers your question or not...The other difficulty I have encountered is that my spherical HDRI rotation map does not "match" between Modo and Rhino, so I have to manually guess the proper rotation.
