Banding on renders

This render of a 32 bit exr looks fine with no banding.

When I drop the exr into picture viewer, you are correct I don't see banding.

I've also tried 16 bit png's as you can see above. Camera images have dithering selected.

I just made an 8 bit png and it looks fine. While it's not ideal for flexibility it looks better than banding.
