The more I work on it the more I see the defects. Still need a lot of work.
But here is a render, the caustics work pretty well, but I need to change the shape of the iris. And I need to find an other way to model the sclera.
Don't pay attention to the skin, it's not high res enough.
Say hello to eye

looking alot better with that new skin shader. I think a couple things you should focus on right now are the interaction between the eyeball liquid and eye lid. the liquid should kinda connect the two, and cover everything, whereas your eyeball is just kinda stuck inside of the eyelid. The edge of the iris shouldn't be as hard of a transition. Also, I would work on the eyelashes to get them up to the quality level of the eyeball. I think it'll be easier to judge what's going on with the eye if those aren't so fake looking in comparison. here's a high res eye sample so you can see the iris blending between the color and white. and also get a better idea of the liquid.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah something weird is happening, especially on the last shot. I need to model the eye differently I think. I perfectly see what you describe. Thanks for the high res ref.
I'll work on it as soon as I have time.

Oddly, this is why I bought Octane. I had a scene I wanted to animate of a realistic eye. That was two years ago and I still haven't rendered anything nearly as awesome as what you made. Great job. What did you model your scene with? How did you handle the iris? I tried to model the iris (tendrils and all)...not much luck.

Looks really good Synce. I am by no means a character render expert but it seems to me that there is a bit of moisture missing at the eye-skin interface - like the eye is floating in the socket a bit. Usually there a bit of 'surface tension' moisture there that softens the transition. But great work!

Modeling in 3dsMax, and rendering with the plugin. Here is a an update. I remodeled completely the eye, to be more accurate with reality, but I can't find any good photo a real eyes detailled enough. Or something medical. I changed the texture too.
There was the moisture, but I did it again. Sadly, I don't have a good result with it. I'm not sure how to do it better by cheating. If I do it like it is in the reality, it's gonna take a long time! If anyone have advices...

Can't help you there - perhaps ElBloko would be kind enough to lend you a hand... He's done extensive work on the eye (http://area.autodesk.com/showcase/#!/story/rebellion), or Rikk the Gaijin.
But man, that Iris is awesome! So please keep going, I'd love to see the final result.
