This has been previously mentioned, as well as suggested. It never went anywhere, though. Hence why a lot of us have mostly stopped complaining, and just went back to our preferred versions until t_3 drops another update, I think. One can only yell at a wall for so long before one gets tired of yelling.

Lack of communication was a problem but the main reason we're still in beta is that development stalled as was acknowledge by t_3 and OTOY. The reason it started again is because some of us made a formal complaint about the situation. While I agree in principle that developers need to be left alone to get on with a project there came a point in this situation when it was necessary to find out what was happening and get things back on track.

Oh, I wasn't trying to argue that part, I was specifically referring to t_3 being essentially non-communicative, having suggested he get someone just to post updates for him was suggested previously with almost identical wording. That never went anywhere, and Otoy never gave any sort of encouragement for the aspect of us getting communication, despite a lot of circular self-praise on their part. I was referring to that, not saying that complaining won't make anything happen at all, just that t_3 has not, does not, and most likely will not communicate effectively in these forums, and Otoy seems to have no desire to attempt to enforce him to do so, nor appoint anyone to do it for him.

Yes, I think there's now a consensus among many of us that regular communication is a hopeless dream. Some may still cling on to that possibility but it's never lasted.

Has anyone tried this in DS 4.7 now? According the the Redspecs page, 4.7 should be supported at this time:

That's correct!

All customers of RedSpec TGX tailored for Genesis 2 Females should have received an e-Mail with links to updated files included.
These work in the 5th pre-release within DAZ Studio 4.7

Ok, that works REALLY well, it does indeed fell fast. I have a few questions though:

1: How many actually different materials are in there? Is it really nessecary with seperate arm/leg materials, or can they be combined for less clutter?
2: How exactly is the "thin film" thing supposed to work for wetness? I have tried maxing out the film and setting roughness to 0 on both lip submaterials, but I don't think it makes much difference here (trying for lipgloss - PMC kernel - 500 samples):
Image
Is there some setting I need to enable?

3: Why are normals set to a greyscale value (and sometimes linked to roughness)? Can I still use normal maps with these materials?
4: On the skin materials, why are roughness and specular nodes linked to the same number? Aren't these each other's opposite or is there something else going on?
5: What's the point of all the transforms/projections that are just left at 1.

But man, look at that image, that's just dragging and dropping out of the box, and a few minutes on a cheapish GPU :)

Great render and beautiful skin tones! My question is, apart from the quality of these shaders, do they offer a render speed advantage over the skins that come with G2F/M figures? Do they use less VRAM when loaded than the original skins?

The shaders use the same texture maps as the character you start with plus a custom SSS map. That means they will use the same amount of vram (or more if the character you start with does not use an SSS map).
The default skins for G2F/G2M do not use SSS (subsurface scattering) when auto converted to Octane in OcDS, so these shaders will typically need more samples/pixel and hence more time to clear up noise on the skin.
The results are outstanding though and well worth the extra time. Here is one of my recent experiments.
